The Middle School curriculum formulated by the Indian Council of Secondary Education (ICSE) programme lays a great emphasis on learning basic facts and gradually move to detailed understanding of concepts. It ensures progression and continuity across various stages of learning, incorporates continuous evaluation, review and remediation of children’s performance. Academic subjects include English, Hindi, Marathi, Mathematics, Science, History, Geography and Computer Science, Art, Communication Skills, Physical Education, Socially Useful Productive Work (SUPW), Music and Martial Arts are integrated into the mainstream curriculum. Children are encouraged to foster team- building and competitive spirit through projects, activities, research and presentations which are linked to learning experiences. We have introduced STEM Education (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math discipline). STEM brings about a unique approach to teaching and learning, one that centers around individual students’ learning styles and interest. Innovative teaching strategies and methods like Collaborative Learning, Scaffolding Method, Co-operative Learning, Gallery Walk, Project Based Learning and Inquiry Based Learning are used. This has laid great emphases on collaboration, communication, research, problem solving, critical thinking, and creativity, skills that students need to be successful in today's world regardless of specific interests or career goals. STEM is a direct response to the realization that our future will be built on our capacity for innovation, invention, and creative problem solving. Assessments are summative along with orals or assignments (child-centric approach). In short, the Middle School curriculum is built around the principle of knowledge, understanding, application and developing skill-sets.
